ENTRY RULES
Who should enter - The unique Magnum Opus Awards program is devoted to corporate and custom publishers. Those entering will include corporate writers and editors, creative directors, art directors, webmasters, ad agencies, for-profit/nonprofit corporations, PR agencies, educational institutions, associations and any other organizations who contribute to the production of a publication.
Print entry prep - For each entry, enclose three identical samples/tearsheets. Attach a separate entry form (or photocopy) to the back of each sample. Tape or staple it to your sample, facing out. For Most Improved Editorial, Most Improved Design, and Best Rewrite, enclose three samples of the old publication or article (label as "old") and three samples of the new publication or article (label as "new").
Electronic entry prep - Print the publication's URL on the entry form and attach a screen shot or printout of your Web or intranet site's home page. Or, send us an Adobe Acrobat PDF on CD. If your publication is a software file (e.g., MS PowerPoint, MS Word, etc.), it must be readable in standard Mac or Windows software and sent on a CD. Please indicate the name of the software used and whether it was created on a Mac or PC platform.
Eligibility - The awards program is open to all companies, organizations and institutions involved in producing publications, print or electronic, for internal or external audiences-but not those created by McMurry, Inc., the owner of ContentWise. To be eligible for a Magnum Opus award, an entry must have been produced in calendar year 2007. Entries may originate from any country.
Award nominator - The person submitting the entry will be our permanent contact throughout the course of the awards program, and will receive all correspondence, including receipt of entry and winning entry acknowledgement.
Choosing categories - Over 200 categories are considered in the Magnum Opus Awards. Entrants may nominate their publication in one or multiple categories. There is a fee for each category entered. Judges reserve the right to change your entry to fit the appropriate category.
Judging procedure - Judges are chosen on the basis of their experience in the field of publishing and their ability to fairly evaluate the entries. Each entry will be judged on how well it fulfills its publication mission and the quality of the product, including editorial and design. Three different judges will evaluate each entry. A Gold, Silver, and Bronze award, along with Honorable Mentions, may be awarded in all categories except the Grand Awards. In six category segments, one Grand Magnum Opus and up to three Special Recognition awards for both internal and external publications may be awarded.
Entry fees - ContentWise premium edition subscribers pay $125 for each entry. For all others the fee for an initial entry is $175; subsequent entries are $150. There is an additional late fee of $10 per entry. All late entries must be postmarked by March 28, 2008. You may send one payment for multiple entries. Please include credit card information on only one entry form. Payment must accompany entries and be made in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank. Send the fee, entry form, and entry submission(s) to Magnum Opus Awards, McMurry Campus Center, 1010 East Missouri Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
Refunds - No refunds will be made once the entry has been sent out for judging.
Return of materials - All entries submitted to the awards program become the property of the Magnum Opus Awards and may be used for promotional purposes. Entries will not be returned. Do not send irreplaceable artwork.
Deadline - Entries must be postmarked by March 21, 2008. Shipping by UPS, FedEx and other parcel services must also carry the same date.
Shipping - Mailing/shipping costs and handling fees are at the entrant's expense. Send entry materials along with entry forms and fees. For foreign entries we suggest you send your material either by airmail or a courier service that will deliver directly to our offices. To expedite your package through customs, please affix or mark in bold lettering on the outside of the package "Contest Material. No Commercial Value."
Awards notification - Winners will be notified by mail and/or e-mail the week of June 23, 2008. Should your entry place as an award winner, your award certificate will be personalized this way: Entrant Company, Publication Name and Category Name.
